CQ WPX RTTY CONTEST Participation Report

I participated CQ WPX RTTY CONTEST last Saturday and Sunday as JO3PSJ/3 in Inami Town, Hyogo, JAPAN.

My individual result was totally 177 QSOs. I'm afraid that it will be bottom class but I'm very sartified with it.

The number of QSO entities was totally 41. Of them the first emtities were 13,--G, EA, OH, EU, YO, ES, LY, YU, Z3, 4O, EY, TA, XE. I missed WAJA because I couldn't catch African stations but I finally had QSOs with YU(Serbia) and YO(Romania) which I always couldn't have QSOs in the previous contests.

My antennas were Inverted V dipole for 40m, Rotary V dipole RDE-15 by Radix and handmade Hentenna for 15m and handmade Hentenna for 10m.

To my surprise, I could have QSOs with many European and American stations on 15m and 10m bands in spite of off season. Recently I heard that the SSN(Sun Spot Number) is increasing and European and American stations show up. I must prepare for antennas at home.

The next contests which I will participate are Russian PSK(27 and 28 Feb.), Russian DX(20 and 21 March) and CQ WPX SSB(27 and 28 March).
CQ WPX RTTY CONTEST was very useful for researching participation of Russian stations and condition of high bands.

BH7JER from Shenzhen, China, Duo Xie!

This is a QSL card from BH7JER station in Shenzhen, China.

I had a QSO with BH7JER on Jan. 23 on the band of 40m before start of RTTY DX Contest when I checked SWR of vertical antenna.

IC-718, VU handy TX and his handamade antenna tuner?? are displayed in his QSL card. Maybe his field shack? He used IC-718 for QSO with me by 25W power. His signal was very clear in the west coast of Awaji Island. He wrote it was rainy at the time of QSO. It was very strong windy weather in my side. I think it is FB to write WX at the time of QSO!

LZ7J from Bulgaria, TNX FR FB QSL!

This is a QSL card from LZ7J station in Bulgaria.

I had a QSO with LZ7J on Nov. 21 on the band of 40m in the LZ DX Contest. LZ7J is LZ1KSP station's callsign for contest.
This is the second confirmed Bulgarian station. I'll give LZ7J a great thanks for having caught my very weak signal.

LZ7J's QSL manager is LZ1JZ station. I expect many DXers will know the name of LZ1JZ. LZ1JZ is one of the most famous QSL printing company in the world. LZ7J's QSL card is designed by LZ1JZ. I think it is very beautiful design and colouring.

BG2STH from Dalian, China, Duo Xie!

This is a QSL card from BG2STH station in Dalian, China.

I had a QSO with BG2STH on Jan. 23 on the band of 40m before start of RTTY DX Contest when I checked SWR of vertical antenna.

His card design is his snap photo while mobile operation. A style of mobile operation is the same as in Japan. BG2STH is really a Chinese gentleman!
BG2STH is a member of the Chinese Radio Sports Association like the previous BH7LY.

Two Russian Stations UA0DC and RN0JJ, Bolishoe Spasibo!

These two QSL cards are from Far Eastern Russia.

The first one is from UA0DC station in Khabarovsk, another is from RN0JJ station in Amur Region.

I had two QSOs with UA0DC in RTTY DX Contests on the band of 40m on Aug. 30 and Sep. 5. He often participate DX contests of RTTY. I'd like to have QSO on other bands next time.

With RN0JJ I had a QSO on 80m band on Nov.21, 2009. I had much difficulty to talk with him because he repeated to me QRZ. I'm very happy to be confirmed.
According to his letter in Russian, he beams 2m antenna for Japan and is challenging to have DX QSO on 2m band. I'd like to have QSO with him on VHF band. Maybe we'll have chance to talk with him along the coast of Japan Sea.

BH7LY from Guangdong, China, Duo Xie!

This is a QSL card from BH7LY station in Guangdong, China.

I had a QSO with BH7LY on Jan. 23 on the band of 40m before start of RTTY DX Contest when I checked SWR of vertical antenna.

A man who is operating radio is BH7LY. I understand he is enjoying field operation. His using rig is FT-847??
In addition this station is operated by the Chinese Radio Sports Association. I guess ARDF is included in radio sports. ARDF is popular radio sports in Japan among young people.

Two Argentina stations LU6DU and LU1ALF, Muchas Gracias!

These two QSL cards are from Argentina.

The first one is from LU6DU station, another is from LU1ALF station. I had QSOs with both stations on the band of 15m in JIDX Contest held on 15 November, 2009.

I operated in the observatory which has a wide view to the east side. It was easier to have QSO with Latin America than with European stations because there are almost no obstacles between Japan and Argentina. On that day condition of high band was very good and I had QSOs with six Argentina stations including these two stations.

Muchas Gracias FB QSL!

Two US stations NR5M and KT6YL, TNX FR FB QSL!

I will show you two QSL cards from the United States.

The first one is from NR5M station in Texas, another is from KT6YL station in California. I had QSOs with both stations on the band of 15m in CQ WW DX Contest held on 25 October, 2009.

NR5M's card design is many big antennas. That is a yard of individual house?? I imagined American house is very big!!

KT6YL's card is a wild bird. As callsign says, KT6YL is a YL operator. She sent me her photo which shows KT6YL was enjoying contest in her shack room. She is very beautiful woman and very good contester!
