Participation Report of CQ WW WPX Contest

I participated CQ WW WPX Contest March 27 and 28, 2010.

I operated as JO3PSJ/3 at Inami town, Hyogo, JAPAN at the same operation site as the last week’s two DX contests. My individual result was totally 195 from 42 entities in the world. Of them the newly acquired entities were 7,-- 9V(Singapore), EK(Armenia), XX9(Macau), HC8(Galapagos Is.), SJ(Sweden), 5B(Cyprus)、YI(Iraq). I had a QSO with YI2BBY station which has prefix of Iraqi stations. I cannot see his/her callsign in the QRZ.com and cannot confirm if it is true or fake Iraqi stations.

My antennas were Inverted V dipole for 20m, handmade 2 elements Yagi antenna for 15m. I didn’t make a QRV on low band and 10m band.

I finished improving handmade 2 elements Yagi antenna for 15m band and used it for the de fact first time. I checked appropriate width of elements with MMANA, antenna making software, in advance. Fortunately, the number of SWR was 1-1.5 in the whole range of band without hairpin matching.

Compared with dipole antenna, the performance of Yagi antenna is very excellent! I could have a QSO with stations in European Russia, Ukraine and Turkey in the early afternoon. On the second day I realized QSO with a station in Galapagos Islands. I enjoyed almost contest time on the 15m band.
But this antenna is very big! The width of elements is about 7m. Radius is about 5m! Place in which I build it is extremely limited. I will bring two antennas—Yagi and dipole—and choose appropriate one according to the space of site.

Participation Report of BARTG HF RTTY Contest and Russian DX Contest

I participated two biggest BARTG HF RTTY Contest and Russian DX Contest between March 20 and 21, 2010.

I operated as JO3PSJ/3 at Inami town, Hyogo, JAPAN. My individual result was totally 132 QSOs--53 QSOs for BARTG HF RTTY Contest, 76 for Russian DX Contest and 3 for off-contest. In spite of almost full participation, I couldn’t extend my previous results.

The number of QSO entities was totally 33—21 entities for BARTG HF RTTY Contest, 20 for Russian DX Contest and 3 for off contest. Of them the newly acquired entities were 5,-- 4X(Israel)、OM(Slovakia)、ER(Moldova)、UA2F(Kaliningrad)、ZS(South Africa). Especially, I realized QSO with a station in Africa for the first time.

My antennas were Inverted V dipole for 40m and 20m, Rotary V dipole RDE-15 by Radix and handmade 2 elements yagi antenna for 15m. Though I prepared wire antenna for 80m, I didn’t build it for the reason of bad WX. In addition, handmade 2 elements yagi antennas for 10m and 15m didn’t work well for the terribly strong wind.
Though I used handmade 2 elements Yagi for 15m band for the first time, I gave up it, to my regret, because the number of SWR was extremely high. I must improve it for next operation.

I'm sorry for being late to renew my blog...

Dear DX Friends!

I'm sorry for being late to renew my blog diary.

Because the period between the end of March and the start of April is too busy in Japan, I didn't have enough time to write English diaries.
Writing blog in English is very hard work for non-English speaker.

I'm very glad that you understand this situation.
